In a bid to enhance enrollment and bolster its reputation across the St. Louis metro area, Saint Louis University High (SLUH) collaborated with our agency to undergo a visual identity overhaul. During our meticulous discovery process, we identified inconsistencies in SLUH's visual representation across various departments. As the lead art director, I spearheaded the transformation of SLUH's brand presence.
Drawing inspiration from the school's rich history dating back to 1818, I embarked on a journey to revitalize SLUH's identity. After delving into historic documents, alumni stories, and archival photographs, we crafted a bold new direction. My concept reimagined the school's iconic fleur-de-lis as a symbol of strength, encased within a deep blue diamond shield, subtly emphasizing the school's all-male student body.
Beyond the logo, we devised a comprehensive branding system, encompassing a graphics library, athletic team logos, messaging, fonts, and styles—all meticulously documented in a cohesive guide. The revitalized brand rollout yielded tangible results, with enrollment experiencing steady year-over-year growth. As SLUH commemorated its 200-year anniversary, my logo design became the face of the institution's next chapter. Over 700 unique iterations of the logo were crafted, alongside a plethora of web updates, signage installations, photo shoot direction, and print projects, ensuring SLUH's brand continued to evolve seamlessly into the future.
